My Life, My Skills

Here the Mentors will focus on preparing our Mentees with the Life Skills they need now and will need after being in Care. Our Mentees will also be equipped with the Employability Skills they need to achieve their Aspirations.

Delivered to:

  • Group maximum of 12 Mentees | Children and Young People in Care and Care Leavers age 16 - 25

  • For 12 Weeks

  • For 1 session per week for 2hrs @ 4:30pm - 6:30pm (on Wednesdays)

  • To take place at The Transformed You Hub

At the end of the 12 weeks, each Mentee will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, takeaway their Personalised Programme Workbook and have the opportunity to remain in contact with the Mentors through our Letterbox Contact by Post, Email, Phone or In Person Drop In Support at The Transformed You Hub. 

Please Note: Throughout the Programme, we will keep the Commissioning Local Authority up to date with any issues or concerns that come to light.

My Life, My Skills Modules

  • Managing My Money - Our Mentees will benefit from learning how to budget, live on a budget, save and pay bills.

  • Skills for Life - Our Mentees will benefit from learning a mix of Grocery Shopping Skills, Cooking Skills, Home Skills and Social Skills.

  • Healthy Relationships - Our Mentees will benefit from learning how to identify and maintain healthy relationships.

  • Keeping Myself Safe - In the wake of knife crime, exploitation, county lines and gang affiliation, our Mentees will benefit from learning how to keep themselves safe when in the company of their peers. 

  • Healthy Me - Our Mentees will benefit from learning how to become physically, mentally and emotionally healthy.

  • Who Am I? - Our Mentees will benefit from exploring their identity.

  • I Am Going To Be… - Our Mentees will benefit from identifying, discovering and planning their pathway through education, employment or training, in order to achieve their aspirations.

The Modules will also feature, Guest Spot Facilitators who are Care Leavers able to inspire hope in our Mentees, and Professionals who are able to share their expertise, skills and knowledge to empower and affirm our Mentees.

Group/Peer Mentoring Programmes will take place as Waves throughout each Year as follows:

  • Wave 1 11th October 2023 - 17th January 2024 | Now Closed for Referrals

  • Wave 2 24th April 2024 - 17th July 2024 | We Are Now Open for Referrals | Deadline Friday 15th March 2024 | EXTENDED FRIDAY 22ND MARCH 2024

Referrals to book our Group/Peer Mentoring Programme must be made by the commissioning Local Authority Children’s Services Departments and/or Local Authority Virtual School.
